For Parents: Building relationships has been a cornerstone of my 24-year career in professional baseball. Ive often enjoyed being part of challenging and thought-provoking conversations about improving performance on or off the playing field. One of the important things Ive discovered is that for the most part professional athletes are much more interested in being told what they need to hear instead of what they want to hear. Over the years, my work with major league teammates and with minor leaguers working their way up has provided me with the opportunity to see and appreciate the kind of skills and attitudes that make players great, or keep them from reaching their potential. Based on that, part of our work together will be to have realistic conversations about what is the best path for your son or daughter to run on-whether it is towards a college or professional career, a spot on the high school team, or simply greater enjoyment from an activity they love. We will focus on the student-athlete's strengths while we delve into an honest appraisal of the challenges that may be holding them back. Together we will explore opportunities that will maximize their potential. I look forward to taking the next step with you. Sincerely, John Morris |
